After traveling for 3 years, we have a few MUST HAVE travel items we never go anywhere without.
Our Luggage
We have lived out of our Carry-on size AWAY bags for 3 years straight! They work great and they really stand by their lifetime warranty. Once, after the TSA locks were damaged by security in South America, AWAY sent us new replacement locks.
This is the other bag we each carry and we use this one as our carry on bag. This thing is a beast! It is amazing how much it can fit! Honestly we probably fit more in this than our Away Bags.
Things to Keep You Organized
If you are not already on the packing cube train, it is a game changer. Seriously, we could not pack without them at this point.
Similar to the packing cubes, we have found that having a home for everything is the way to go. Each time we get to a new place, we can easily transfer our cosmetic cases to the bathroom and it all stays organized.
These are quite simple but they work great for keeping all the small misc items organized, whether your are talking about cosmetic type items, electronics, etc. Don’t be expected to be blown away with quality by any means but it is a step above single use ziplock bags. 😉
We have a lot of electronics and we use two of these to keep all of our batteries, cords, power banks, hard drives, etc organized.
Must Have Electronics
We love this thing! It has 4 USB plugs and 3 regular plugs. We have a lot of electronics that need to be charged every night and this makes it so easy no matter where we are in the world!
Bestek Adapter for Higher Watts
This is the one I use for my hair straightener and I have not had any issues up to this point.
We were initially skeptical of these based on how cheap they are, but we can confirm now that they are great! We purchased two of them over 2 years ago and they are still going strong. It is actually pretty amazing how well they work with how inexpensive they are.
We have about 15 of these. We buy the 2TB ones but there are various sizes. They have worked very well for us.
You’ll probably want some extra storage for all those pictures you are going to take. We use the Sandisk SD cards and probably have 12 of them ranging from 32GB to 128GB (both micro and standard size).
We love these on planes or buses. They do take up space, but it is worth it. We have kept them with us for 3 years now!
Since it can be difficult to travel with actual books, this is a new purchase for us and we are loving it.
Camera Gear
FUJIFILM XT3 Mirrorless Camera
This has been our go to camera since before we even filmed Youtube videos and it is fantastic. Small body perfect for travel and VERY VERY durable!
FUJIFILM Wide Angle 10-24mm Lens
We use this lens for most of our filming. It is the lens that lives on the camera
We did not add this lens until a little over a year ago and it has made a HUGE difference in both our pictures and our videos. The depth we can get with the zoom lens is really incredible.
This is our second drone (Paul Jr.). We have been through a lot together and I could not imagine filming without him. The landscape footage we are able to capture from the sky is simply more compelling than most of what we can capture on the ground.
Other Items We Love
We try to be mindful of our single use plastic consumption so we both carry one of these. We either use a water filter (below) or we buy 10L bottles of water to refill our water bottles.
If you don’t want to be buying millions of plastic water bottles while you travel, you can get a reusable water bottle and a water filter to reduce your plastic waste. It is also really great when hiking and camping.
